RTS games will never work on a console. The controls, no matter how much they tell us have improved, always suck.

Plus, I always feel like a passive participant in RTS games. Move here. “Yes sir.” Shoot those guys. “At your command.” Now just sit back and watch your men stand out in the open like revolutionary war morons taking on modern-day guerrillas. Don’t take cover, like you would in Halo 3 or actual life. Just fucking stand there, out in the open, for the world to see, and battle it out. Don’t even lay down or scramble around aimlessly. In fact, just run in there naked. Hiding’s for wimpos.

Take a look at the Halo Wars E3 demo at around 3:30. All the dudes just stand there and fire back and forth. Boring.

Oh, and if you do happen to win the battle against a few dudes, just stand there while your friends are slaughtered a few feet away while you brainlessly wait for my command.

Nothing brings out the flaws in standing armies more than RTS games. A militia would be right by their comrades’ side without hesitation.
